|an engineer says: What is it that makes the people of this country embarrassed of our engineering capabilities and heritage? Without manufacturing this country is nothing more than a service centre for countries /with/ a manufacturing base. Renishaw (and I know little more about the company than what it makes) is one of the better of the surviving small manufacturies in this part of the country. We would be better off supporting it rather then moaning about it. And if the roads are a bit crowded around closing time so be it.

|another engineer says: Renishaws is a company to be proud of in our area as it provides jobs and economic beneifits. Just one thing though...have they not contemplated flexi-time so that they do not jam up all the country roads twice a day. It works for most other industrial complexes why not here.

|Invincible Shogun King says: Why don't they just relocate to a business area rather than continue to expand over country fields? All this fuss over a few new houses but no one seems to mind if Renishaw want a new carpark or giant shed.

|pan says: And this relocation will be funded from the ISK piggy bank will it? You'll also wish to relocate all the families who rely on Renishaw for employment?

The modern view is that office, shop, light industry and residential housing should all be intermixed to reduce the empty, vandal-friendly, areas around out-of-hours commercial properties.

You however appear to want only residential use for Wotton, leaving the whole place empty during the day and open to burglary?

|mike says: we just want sense to prevail, idrove back into wotton last night, and it is obvious that Renishaws dominate the initial part of that drive in from charfield, the lighting is almost insensitive to those houses who look towaMikerd Charfield and beyond for their view at night. Please, if you are going to expand , low and defused lighting where possible, and god forbid they ever build this sports centre on Renishaw donated land, please please no flood lighting, wotton is built on a hill, it looks down, not up, all we will see at night is floodlit pitches, Think.

|Invincible Shogun King says: Cuz house prices are like, too expensive? If everyone who lived in Bradely Stoke worked in Bradley Stoke thats like saying everyone who works at Renishaw should live in Wotton. Or maybe thats already happening!

|an engineer again, or indeed still says: Of course, Mike is right. In supporting our devastated engineering industry I wouldn't wish to create a monster in our midst! smile Environmentally sensitive lighting and construction are hopefully prerequisites to any expansion at Renishaw, and I for one do not wish to see the proposed sports facilities built at all.
