Wotton's Hockey Club Crowned Champions
2nd XI wrap up league title with two games to spare.

A comprehensive win over local rivals Stroud last Saturday secured the Hereford & Gloucestershire Division One title for Wotton's 2nd XI with two games to spare.

The team has only lost one league game all season and only needed a point from Saturday's game to ensure that they could not be caught by nearest rivals Cheltenham HC.

The 2nd XI have been attempting to narrow the gap on the clubs flagship 1st XI who retain their place among the top 12 teams in the South Wales and West of England region. They have won several promotions in the last 10 years but this is the first time that the 2nd XI have been promoted as champions.

The other bonus for the club is the relatively young age of the 2nd XI squad with only one regular squad member over the age of thirty.

Captain Chris Price should take full credit for keeping the squad motivated this season while vice-Captain Gary Davis has weighed in with 12 penalty corner goals.
