anna, In the Dursley Registration District, that Wotton under edge comes under. There was a Sarah Ann Blizard. born 1843. In the 1st quarter of the year. Jan-Feb-Mar.

It looks like that she is the one, that married john Richings, later, and is with him as a visitor, in Long Street on the 1861 census.
Both "records" give her as born in 1843

In the 1950s I was often sent by my mum or my gran to Richings to collect the meat for Dinner so remember sides of beef etc,. suspended from hooks one view in the shop. Also having to pay at the separate pay desk in the corner.

In latter years 1970s/80s? I remember Sue Forty was the Cashier.

Sorry if I'm going off topic a bit here... I'll blame Tubbs and Lone.

Hi I am Annette Barnes and William Armitage (my great grandfather) married Elizabeth Richings nee Blizard. My grandmother Mabel Armitage was the youngest of his four daughters. I have lots of family history Anna Blizard that I could give you. You can contact me at aebarnes58@gmail.com. My mother met your great grandfather Jack Blizard in New York in 1948 and had lunch with him. I also have a letter written by him to my mother after she had congratulated him on his 100th birthday. I hope you see this message.

Albert Richings (born 1855), the Family Butcher whose shop is pictured above, was my great grandfather. He was the son of John Richings (born 1817). It is good to see that the Richings family business is still operating !! My paternal grandmother, Constance Richings (born 1893), emigrated to the USA around 1911 and settled in Connecticut where she married John A Jones (a Brit from Birmingham) and raised her family. I'd love to connect with any of my distant Richings cousins either in the UK, Australia or New Zealand.
