Hi,

I hope this is the right media for this topic.

I am researching the Excell family. I have found Excell family in Leckhampton,Dursley,WUE and surrounding areas. I have followed them to India and back!. I understand the family made shoes!. Perhaps this explains my number of shoes lurking in the bottom of my wardrobe. I tell. my husband that I am carrying out quality control!. He does not wear this, excuse the pun. Its my excuse and I'm sticking to it.My Gt Gt GT Grandfather was Thomas Excell and my Gt Gt GT Grandmother was Anne. Hannah Excell was Thomas's sister. If I am in the wrong area please let me know and I will creep back into the wardrobe and play with my shoes

best regards to all

Hi Excell, and welcome from...er... all two of us. From past experience, I would say you're in exactly the right place. Best regards back.

I don't know of any Excells unfortunately, but even though I don't know of any Excells unfortunately, I enjoyed reading your post, and don't feel there's any need for embarrassed shoe-playing in your wardrobe.

If you type 'excell' into the search box on the left hand column of this page, you'll see quite a few previous references to various Excells, including some cross-referencing from the mighty Bennett clan, and the two-dozen separate threads on that topic. You knew that already I expect.

All the best with your research.

Excell, welcome to this site. I think your best bet, is to get in-touch with "Velcro". Send a private message. She may have some information, you need.
Get in touch with Wotton-under-Edge, Heritage Centre. For information on the Tomb Trail.

Hi Deb, Yes we are related via the Excell family. My ggg were Thomas Excell and Ann Jobbins. I think Hannah was Thomas's sister. I will do a check on the tree and come back to you and let you know if that's OK. It's a rather large tree so I will get the run down and let you know. best regards Laurasmile

Excells were strongly focussed on North Nibley in the 19th century. If you have access the Ancestry.com you can read several of their wills, which make for interesting reading. Do you know of Timothy Excell? He was the self-styled King of the Handloom Weavers and a very interesting man. He was born in Nibley and died in Woodmancote.

Excell, I've just come across your post.
While searching my tree to see if I could help, I found that there were two Thomas Excell's born in 1808 in Wotton.
1) Thomas Excell, bapt 17 August 1808, parents Abraham and Mary.
2) Thomas Excell bapt 3 August 1808, parents Thomas and Mary. This one was baptized at The Tabernacle Calvinistic Methodist Chapel which night help you.
I now have no idea which one married Ann Jobbins.
