Leyhill Prison IMB is Recruiting Volunteers
Leyhill Prison Independent Monitoring Board (previously known as The Board of Visitors) is currently recruiting volunteers.

The Board members monitor all aspects of the prison, and visit the prison each week on a rota basis, as well as attending monthly meetings.

Whilst on monitoring visits particular attention is paid to the treatment of prisoners, the condition of the prison, and the range and suitablility of activities available.

Matters of concern are reported to the Chair of the Board and the Governor. Prisoners may make applications to the Board member about problems they have been unable to resolve, and these applications need to be listened to, investigated and appropriately responded to.

There is training provided for members, and the team works together supportively. On average the time taken is about 4 - 5 days a month. However the timing of visits is very flexible according to what time the members have available, and it is possible to fit it in around a full-time job.

If you are interested in knowing more or applying, please contact Dawn Tillman at Leyhill Prison, 01454 264147, or Pat Carpenter, 01454 264112, who can send out an information and applicaton pack.
